great rod love it, best general alround rod i have, they even come in a match verson with a glass tip(i think) which gives even better bite detection

have the primo match and have to say that its the finest thing i have ever owned. had a 5lb pollock on it on my first cast and not a bother on it.

have used it with 8oz leads and big baits (10lug) into strong head winds with not a bother on it

this rod has a very through action, more so on the newest model,
would suit match-fishing but certainly not rough ground work, casting
weight optimum 150 gms, would try and get one of the older models
a bit more poke in them,
all the best m.

have the primo match a while ago and the lads up in bray built it for me did a great job.

Steve, I know you are a big hitter, right, but how can you call the newer models of the Primo Synchro a "very through action" you may get the butt section to bend during a cast, but you would have to be a 250yd plus caster and that goes for many tournament Zziplex rods too....as for rough ground work, can you tell me a rod that would do a better job IMO the Synchro will pull with the best of them, it may not be the bully that some of the Bullets are but it is one of the best all-rounders Terry ever built....I have one of the older model Synchro blanks here and bending both butts on the ground to test them shows very little in it. Not being picky with you but your comment did surprise me :)

I hope your keeping well  :)

hello rock-hopper, totally agree with what youre saying, alot of people
north-coast area of ireland ,have bought the syncro, and felt it was
lacking in power, the fact is the rod is hugely powerfull mid-section
but needs a really good technique to atain its maximum potential,
just buying a specific model, hoping for better distance usually doesnt
work out that way, i currently own a older model syncro, and feel it
just has a bit more poke, but as you know youre-self, every zziplex
rod has its own indvidual feel, still would love a pair of
primo-synco matches all said and done.

i have one of the newer models of Primo Synchro (have about a year now) and find that it has a tip middle action, the butt is stiff and has loads of power in it, i have also found that its a great all round rod for fishing, but it isn't a out and out rock rod. After trying a few rods this was the first rod i used when starting serious casting as it was a very forgiving rod to use and will let you away with some mistakes that other rods don't , all in all i feel its the best rod i own (so far, haven't had must chance to test profile yet)

as a casting rod , i found it a really impressive rod for otg , 125-150gms
low-butt on the 125gm , i had really good distances high butt as well,
150gms, between 230 and 240 yards,

Found it added about 40 yards to my cast - well impressed with that - build quality is excellent ( in no small part to job done by Tom)

All I need now is that 40 yards that Kstaff has promised me and i'm in the zone :D
