advice on removing a reel seat.

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice on how to loosen a fuji reel seat which i've positioned too high up the butt.Its super glued in place with the shrink tube over either end,I just need to lower it by a few inches,any advice would be welcome apart from the obvious don't try this at home!
By the way tight lines to all for 2008.

prob best to remove the shrink tube with a stanley knife and the reel seat very carefully with either a knife oe a hacksaw. maybe bring it into a tackle shop if your a little nervous about bringing a saw to your rod

The rod is a 50/50 Paul.....it would become a 40/50 if he done that :lol: :lol: :lol:

Pour very hot water over super glue and tease away with a blunt knife....

I super glued magnets together once LOL and this worked.....

Worth a try.

Nail varnish remover softens super glue but check a small amount against the rod first.
If you can get acetone better still as this is the best glue softener you can get but would robably remove the finish on the rod too!

Thanks guys,I may just have the perfect solution ,i'll try the nail varnish remover and see how it goes and sure if not so be it.Thanks for the replies,ive learned my lesson.

DO NOT use nail varnish remover......if its left on the blank for any length of time it will eat away at the resin in the blank.

Listen to RH.....never try to apply any chemical or solvent to the rod blank if you dont know what u re doing.....the wrong stuff will weaken the rod by removing the resin that hold the carbon fiber together.....after sometimes it will fail....

Never heard people/rod builder re use the reel seat....most reel seat is place and hold by epoxy,not super glue.....most rod builder using this too....unless u fit the seat by urself using super glue....
usually on recondition job or repair job....the reel seat that need to be remove is hacksawed and pry open....

The best things to do is to send it to a rod builder without having a headache thinking that u will damage the good blank....

Thanks raplajoe,yip Tom is the man alright i've been in contact and he has given spot on advice to me so hopefully i'll sort the stoopid thing out asap,its a really annoying thing but at least it can be rectified[i hope].
