New Multiplier

I am looking for a cheap reel under £50. I would need it to be small, with breaks(mag or centrifugal), reliable and good looking. :o Any suggestions? If you think there aren't any good i would say under £70 Max.

try e-bay.. you might get lucky there. i picked up a 7ht (used once) for 45 sterling..

i bought a 6500 c3 sports mag on it for 78e inc p&p

Drop beachcaster a pm and ask him if he's got anything suitable. I know he's down-sizing his personal gear, I got a very nice 6500 ctc3 off him. Second hand, but good as new.

Second that Gerry, got a 6500c3ct mag elite off John a year or two ago and still going strong.

You'l get a 7HT from Gerrys or that for £69.99 i think . . .it'll cost only a £5'er to post to you probably, just slightly over your budget.
Otherwise look for decent second hand tackle perhaps, as the lads said earlier members here are selling something that might interest you . . . .

Well i am getting it for an Xmas Present so i'm able to go a bit higher than £70 possibly.

Any suggestions? Dream on Conor, cheap reels are not reliable!

I asked for suggestions not for comments that state i will not get a reliable reel.

Check the Magazines, you'll find the 7HT in there for £69.99. They are a great clean beach reel, user friendly out of the box. I found the slosh a bit fast and its more suited to heavier lines (20 lb) and heavier ground.

They also cast really well too.

So if you are fishing cleanish or clean beaches then the 7HT is your man for the price that you are willing to pay.

The Slosh is a big reel. Depending on how bit your hands are (!) it can be hard to get your thumb around the spool when casting. Might be worth considering ...

7HT is a great reel but if you're fishing rough ground and/or frequently hauling weed etc. maybe the Mag would be a better option.

I am 11 years of age, to give you a rough idea. The Mag elite is £70 off gerrys of morecambe in green!

in my honest opinion the green mag would be your best choice. it casts very well and is good for a beginer too as you can put the mags on full and it is very hard to birdnest! iv used them and i like them. i have a 7ht and its a nice reel but i prefer the mag as it has a bigger handle and is easier to control a cast! i also had a slosh. again nice reel but i found it a little bit bulky and i found it hard to control during the cast, into a wind for example. i would advise the green mag but dont get one with a level wind, you will regret it when you start geting the hang of the multiplier!!

yes, there is but the cage is different, theres a bar that as far as i know cant be removed unless ya cut it out. its just in the way! if you cant get the green mag without the levelwind go for the 7ht!

your talking about conversion kits and all that when removing level winds..


either the 6500 or a 7ht will be good for starting up..

my preference of the two is the 7ht.. even though i use it a as back up for my 6500c3ct however i can rely on the 7ht for smoother casting and hardly any birdies, the 6500 takes alot longer to tune up(well it took me a hell of a long time)

Either the 7HT or 6500Mag Elite will be fine as long as you are fishing onto clean(ish) ground.

Far as I am aware the 7HT is available in Belfast Angling for £70.

There is little to choose between the two reels from a fishing point of view, some people prefer the power handle on the Abu and others find the daiwa to be slightly more sturdy.
Magnetic braking can be useful but it is not the cure to all casting problems, the original 7HT is still one of the most forgiving reels on the market bar none if it is set up correctly.

Forget about reels with level winds, it is an additional cost to convert one to a CT and it takes very little time to get used to laying the line by hand.
