everything.. they are lightweight but have enough backbone to send leads into orbit, and pull large fish from distance without putting all the pressure on the person using it.. and yet retain a sensative enough tip to detect flattie bites in the suds..

thanks steve,
just out of curiosity, do you think that your zippy adds any extra distance to your cast?? are they just surrounded by hype?? i mean there are surely any number of rods out there tthat do what you said about the zippy
Tue Oct 30, 2007 5:34 pm
yup the rod does add extra...
its a case of, you pay for what you get.. they arnt cheap for a reason.. they are that good..., i can compair a zzippy to alot of rods out there, but none come close to what i can do with a zzippy  :D
most(or maybe all) zzippys dont have a casting rating.. they are well able to cast what you give them(within reason of coarse) i have seen a primo cast a tripod..(thanks again for the laugh midget   )

another thing to add is weight...or lack of. i can compare my primo synchro to my daiwa tdxs and the things the zippy has over it is.....
1: it can cast SLIGHTLY further.
2:it is much lighter.
3:it is slimmer.
however it doesn't have better bite detection than the daiwa.
so overall yes the zziplex is the better rod, but not by a huge amount.

much lighter and slimmer that would be enough reasons for me to get one,I'm starting to think about it, i meet the guys at the casting field and they all got zzyplex ,so must be something about them. i never came across in shop here in Ireland so buy could be difficult decision to make, saw them on the web alright in UK

Not all are slim and for me that is actually an attraction. I have a GSI which is wider than my big beach or ABU S.

I have a number of Zziplex's as well as other rods and the major difference is that you have total confidence in the Zziplex not letting you down no matter how hard you hit the cast.
The fishability and castability of the rods however is totally dependent on which model you choose and waht your own capabilities are.
You can however be sure that the zziplex rods will deliver whatever the particular model has been designed for.
Regards :D

so how i have to chose one?i mean if one is capable to cast over 240 yd and another rated over 300 yd,looking from the casting side every one is dreaming to go as far as possible...and rod puts a limit for you,how this works?

The GSI (Dream Machine) still comes with a reducer as standard, they are a fantastic rod, I have just built one for myself and cant wait to get out with it. Most of the new Zziplex rods have no need for reducers as they are longer and slimmer than the older models.
Terry has resurected quite a few of the older models like the GSI, Tournament International Bullet, Primo Full Tournament etc.....they are the best deal on the market for what you spend, what other rods can demand a re-sale value after 5 or 10 years of use like the Zzippy do.

as jeremy mentioned they will do exactly what they are designed for and some more, and you can be 100% confident with them which can make all the diff esp if your casting with them.
They are also very consistant unlike some other rod manufactures.
Okuma, each zzippy is designed for a spicific job/casting style its just a matter of finding which one suits you and your style, your more than welcome to try any of mine next time we are out,but i would seriously recomend getting that primo synchro and giving it a go it is one of the most widly use zzippys for both fishing and casting and ive yet to hear of any problems with them, and as tom said they hold there value so you wont be loosing on them.
Ive smashed 3 rods in the past year and none have been zzippys, so i rest my case!

A few facts about Zziplex rods.
1/ As a small company Zziplex produce less than 100 rods per week.
2/ Every Zziplex rod ever made is made mostly by Terry Carroll himself.
3/ Terry has broken world casting records himself, so he knows how to achieve what he's looking for in a rod (how many other manufacturers can say that) He still fishes and casts regularly.
4/ Every zziplex rod is tested personally by Terry...Listen how....he holds the tip out in front of him like a lance, he then walks forward into the wall making the tip section bend until the tip pushes him back.
5/ The Primo Synchro was made to prove that a fishing rod could be made using 100% carbon right through (no glass anywhere) and still perform on the shore as well as on the field.
6/ They are the best value for money on the market, try to sell a 10 year old Century, Cono-flex or Daiwa and see if you get what you will for a likewise Zziplex.
There are probably a lot more, but its to soon in the morning :)

can anyone answer why most if not all zippys have a longer tip section than butt, surely this is leaving the rod prone to being broken?????

Thanks Paddyc,i will see if its still available and i see if he give me few casts before it will damage my pocket. myself was thinking about Zziplex Dymic HST 13'2 ???any thoughts about this?? want to get rod just for casting,no fishing
Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:20 pm
i recently cast a large whole mack and 6 oz gripper with my zippy fishing for tope didnt get one but the fact i trust the rod for that kind of punishment speaks for its self,
Thu Nov 01, 2007 9:31 am
Okuma i have a dymic HST too, you are more than welcome to have a go, what price is the primo going for?
Thu Nov 01, 2007 6:56 pm
got my first zziplex a primo synchro(thanks rockhopper) and i am saving for another, its a light powerful rod that have been used for scratching and fighting ray in tidal waters, its a great all round rod. I used to think that some rods where over hyped but after trying them i found out that i was wrong and that you get what you paid for.
ps used to be a big diawa fan, still use these rods but like my zziplex best
