Lads I have a shimano catana 20-30lb boat rod . Lovely rod BUT the tip is a roller tip and the line can and does get down between the roller and the side of the frame, this in turn rubs on the line and has cost me a 70lb + conger    what can I do ? can it be replaced ? by who ? with what?????

Yes it can be replaced....with a better Roller tip guide, it looks like the one on the rod is either damaged or a crap make.

Hopkins & Holloway sell an excellent range of Seymo roller tip guides...

Cheers man the only prob then is fitting it but suppose they come with full instructions :)

No they don't.....they come just as a tip....no glue or anything.

First thing you need is the diameter of the rod tip...then match the tip guide tube to fit.

I am sure if you take it to any tackle shop they will fit the thing on for you.

You take the tip off with by heating the tube with a lighter.....you need to pull it off with pliers, making sure your pull in a straight direction, don't twist it off....you will possible fray the tip and kill the rod.

If you want to do it yourself, send me a pm and I will take you through it step by step....its not rocket science
