Shimano hyperloop bass

Got out to try it eventually. Nice and light, slim blank and well finished. Looking good. Had 2 casts and noticed something odd. Had a look at the tip and found the rod had broken between the tip and 2nd ring. Was using 2.5 oz leads (rod rated 1-3) and lobbing gently to 30/40 yards.
Not very impressed.

im my experience rods dont break there unless they have been crushed or damaged in some way. did you seee anything like that or did you not bother to look before hand?

Yeah its an odd place to break alright. Checked it over when it arrived coz the box was a bit bashed up. Seemed ok to me but could be wrong. The blank is split length ways for about 3 inches and has only cracked through completely on the top half. Kind of hard to explain. Will ring the shop tomorrow and see what they say.

if it had been hit sharply you wouldnt see it unlees you inspect it really carefully. it happend to my greys spinning rod and i didnt see it until i struck on a salmon and the tip snapped :evil:

have held a charter boat on the drift with the hyperloop standup boat while snagged and it didnt break before the 50 lb braid :lol: think it got squashed in transit :cry:
