New Toy

Wed Jun 20, 2007 1:41 pm

Hi Guys was thinking of getting a new toy, A light boat rod in 10/20lb class for led heading on inshore marks.

Seen a Fladden Maximus 10/20lb solid carbon cracking looking rod and never seen a rod so light not cheep E 128.

Does anybody have one of these or know anything about them ?

Cheers

they seem very popular amongst the east coast small boat anglers at the moment.

i have a mitchel tempest and its a spperb rod but with a RRP of about 400 it mite b a bit expensive, i know southside were doing a special offer f 250 and are getting more in very soon

Solid C

Danny,
I use a Solid C 10-20 for heavier work at the moment. Fine rod the reel seat is not a fuji but it is fine so far. The rod has huge power when well compressed but it also has a very sensitive tip. I see them advertised at 6' odd long but make sure you get the 8' version. Well worth a buy.

A good inshore rod for leadheading would be the Diawa Kensaki 6-12, Tidecutter 6-12, Diawa vertice 8lb (short at 7') or a Greys Longboat 6-12.

Bought a solid-c from this crowd last year - lovely rod with plenty of power - £50 - seconds due to a loose spigot joint that was easily tightened using candle wax.

Have to scroll a fair way down the page to find them.

About £62 delivered to the North - but about £84 to Donegal. PM if you want an address in the North to send to as i'm about Fahan / Swilly a lot.

Gerrys have a special deal on Penn tidecutters at the moment. The rods have a good reputation
