excellent reel, great for bullying huss and conger, tope too... not sure if its the best caster of them all but if its for rough ground/light-med boat work uve got one of the best...

it can cast ok, have one myself, not great for distance but a lob from rocks or a pier its fine, just remember to put the black blocks in first, i didnt and had a big birdie

very good reel, have 2 of them, the original and the shv, both designed for heavy ground, kelp, rock etc. casting wish i find them quite good, a little fast out of the box so i woud advise to put in the larger break blocks and use quite a thick oil on the bearings

I have the old SLOSH model, it's excellent! Fast outta the box and to be fair I can get a decent distance from it.
I load mine with 25lb Trilene. It's great for weedy or snaggy venues and I always have it or the SL20 in my box for this reason . . .
Oh and they'll pretty much haul anything that swims!!

use mine with 35lb daiwa tournament for huss, conger etc and have never had a complaint from it and i tend to be quite abusive about it. funny the never attempted a mag version of them

i have one, i use it for conger mostly but do use it for dogfish etc now and again. i have 25lb mono on it. it is a very powerfull reel. wel worth the money! it runs pretty fast so make sure you have your finger running lightly on the drum during the cast. that will prevent the birdies!!

you wont need the brake blocks if you just going to use it for the boat, unless you will be using it for uptiding.
i put brakes into mine so i can use it for beach casting and boat fishin.. and then i can forget about them.
i have an sl30sh and match it with a 9'6" penn uptider, have used the combo for scratching for flatties and pier fishing for ray,
used it today on the boat today, gets the bait down fast and gets the fish up quick no messing around with this reel.. a little powerhorse of a reel..
