Travel rods

Bought one of these recently and am planning on using it for a bit of light spinning around Malaysia next month :D.Was wondering if anyone has any reports on it,how does it handle etc.

Rjoe,am going to Penang,am just planning to do some spinning and plugging off the beach or the rocks,just looking for thier version of Mackerel or Pollack I suppose :lol: ,am then heading to Singapore, and maybe Bintan island off Singapore,have been there a few times before so know what to expect there but not too sure on Penang.Was just wondering if the Shimano Exage will be up for it.

Bintan Island??hehehehehe......try the rocky parts in penang beach, theres plenty grouper there....mostly small....but u maybe got lucky and hooked a kilo plus grouper or perhaps barramundi or mangrove jacks.u can try light beach fishing using small sinker for whitting....its a good place to go shopping for fishing tackle too....specially in beach road singapore.

The rods is more than enuff for your trip....unless u re planning to do boat fishing for fast running king or spannish mackerrel,golden snapper or giant grouper.Cheerrsss......

Yeah, I'd reckon so. It's got a good name for itself as a quality bit of kit.

Did a detailed review of the Exage and there were follow on comments.
Search for it in the tackle review section. Search option is next to the FAQ above near the titles... 9 footer is the better version for spinning.

Bought one about a year ago, heard a fair few complaints about it too but I love it. Has handled mullet to 6 pound pretty well plus pollock, sea-trout,dogfish etc. I find it a handy bit of kit, especially seeing as I go to most places by bike.
