are they any good? how do you use them ( no smart remarks please)? what are the ones to get and what to avoid etc etc

The advantages in a bass rod, in my opinion, are extra mobility and the ability to fish lighter tackle, while still having enough oomph to fish in surf conditions. Ideally, you would be holding the rod, so it needs to be light and well balanced.

I got a Greys BZe from Southside at the end of last season. It hasn't seen much action yet, but it's a lovely rod to hold. If I had a bigger budget, I'd be looking at a Daiwa Supercast Bass.

I have the penn bass extreme. I actually use it for a lot of my spinning and lure work. Its lovely and light and can really throw anything with ease.

the bze without a doubt..fantastic rod, good fights out of the bass with this rod, even dogfish put up a scrap with this rod!! easy to hold, fantastic bite detection, nice caster and easy to fish with...12ft 3-5 oz

I have the lighter 1-3 oz version of the BZe

both of the Bze's are lovely rods. I think the main focus of bass rods is to get a fight out of fish that would you would never really feel on a beachcaster like flounder and small bass. however, don't be fooled about the power because some of these rods are well capable of also fishing for the big stuff. I've landed ray on my heavy Bze.

I use the Daiwa Bass TDPK115 and find it excellent. Get a reasonable cast and its very sensitive - allows all fish to give a good account of themselves.

i use the zziplex PTX bass 12' 8'' i use it for most of my fishing its very light but it has alot of hidden power it....i would never think of changing it for any other bass rod in the world

what about the zziplex profile, its a rod which has many uses both for bass and the comps also, its very slimline and a reasonable price for the use you would get out of it,good all rounder :!:
