I have been using a triplex with a 525 penn super mag,Was expecting to be getting longer casts with this 16ft rod and a great reel,i have been getting OK distance but i feel i should be getting further.I know the old ling its the man and not the rod that gets the cast that bit further, but i find the rod a bit stiff and i dont seem to get very much compression during the cast, funny thing is that i have a 14ft fladen rod and I'm getting just as far with this rod and the rate of compression is much better. :?: :?: :?:

Put a FS on the 16 foot and overhead thump it. I have a 14 foot myself thats more suited to being cast with a Multi.

its just getting the casting style right to suit you with the triplex 16 to be honest, i use the fixed spool on it in the high position(noral for fixed spool) or the multiplier in the low position. i tend not to use it as a distance rod though, more purely for the longer rigs

ive got the 16ft affinity and i cant hit as far as my Ccc which is 14ft i believe ... so its mainly the style of cast...a flick would put mine a good distance, bout 60-70 yards...so a pendulum done right should blow that lead to pieces :D

Pendulum casting with a 16foot rod will lead to all sorts of problems..... Rods of that length are much more suitable for use with FS reels TBH.
Its can be more difficult than you would think to get used to casting with a 16 footer, the extra couple of feet means you generate much more compression and force when casting and it can result in early lead release and wayward casts if you're not used to generating that amount of force.

i use mine with a fixed spool and im most def not a caster but i get easily get it out 80-100yrds with a simple little over head flick, absolutely no power needed the rod does all the work for you, tried with a multi and wasnt as happy with the results

these type of rods were never designed for pendulam casting, the extra
length increases the leverage , are suited to fixed spools , and the over
head thump, they make casting further that much simplier for the
average fisherman, think i would rather get my teeth pulled than
fishing with these dreadfull rods.
