I have one, I use it loaded with 30lb braid teamed up with a daiwa sand storm 13'. It's not too fast but that's good for the braid and it has a nice line lay. I tend to use it for clean beach work, I like it.

they are a very good all round fixed spool. the 8000 will not give you a long cast, but the retrieve is strong and smooth. certain 8000 models are also rust proof. the handles on all aerlex models ( 8000's, biomasters etc ) are interchangeable which is handy if you get the model with the wooden handle, because this can sometimes come off.
if you do get one you can expect it to last at least 2 - 3 years with very little upkeep, but if the gears grind down you are better off replacing the reel rather than trying to get it fixed. if you buy it in a tackle shop right now it should cost around €90

Got one awhile back and have had no problems and definitely better then the Diawa reels  i had .Only regret was i didn't pay the extra few quid and get the next model up (XSA 8000 i think it's called) which is a very smooth reel. Both models seem bullet proof (famous last words  )
