rod postage and ebay

I'm getting a rod :D delivered to me from the UK by Parcel Force. Theres no tracking number with it which worries me a bit :( :shock:
Just wondering what happens if nobody is at home when it's delivered, does it come with the regular post (bills,letters etc) or is it seperate?

Any info much appreciated 8)

usually the guy delivering the rod will ring you before hand,, to see if your there or what time would suit you or give you a rough idea when he is in the area,,,
its not the usual post,,, it will be a courier

im never in for my parcels...i just get a leaflet thro the door..sayin they were here and i wasnt and to pick it up at the local depot...no worries there man..or even they may leave with ur neighbours..

The sender should be able to give you the ParcelFarce [ not a spelling mistake !!] number which you can trace on http://www.parcelforce.co.uk. Only problem is , it will go to the International Hub here in Coventry, and then be " exported" to Ireland. The last trace on the tracking number will , therfore, be the date of "export".
Having said that, don't be surprised if it sits in Coventry for a week before any further action is taken.

Thanks for your help lads 8) , the seller did indeed ask for a phone number for them. Haven't gotten stuff delivered by a courier before so was unsure, cheers for clearing things up.

Nope, not a longbeam, allthough I was lucky in this regard because before the negativity about them appeared here I tried to get one off that guy on ebay :oops: , thankfully (for me anyway) he said they were all gone!

Not sure if I might be having a dodgy experience here though aswell, the guy hasn't replied to any e-mail in days, will wait a while longer though b4 I worry. :shock:

I now have myself a rather nice looking triplex and an as new penn 535 :D.

And speaking of postage, does anyone know of a cheap way to send a rod over to the UK on a return rebuild trip,?
it seems very easy to post from there to here but not so the other way?
Post office does not want to know anything over 1.5mtrs
and courriers want stupid money,as i found out when i got the bill for sending one back to conoflex for rebuild a few weeks ago,,,,60sterling each way :evil: :evil:

Yeah was wondering about getting a rod sent over from the Uk myself! As said above couriers wont take anything over 1.5 meters and mine is about 2.4 meters :? I was thinking about checking it on the plane when i'm coming home, it says its 20quid for fishing gear but was wondering if there would be extra charges or anything because of the length? Anyone know anything with regards to this cant find to much literature about it on the aerlingus website... Dont wanna run into trouble if i arrive with it at the airport...
