Bought a small Petzl head torch last month and then by accident ran it through a cycle in the washing machine  . It spilled out in parts. I put it back to gether and its worked fine since.

silva all the way i have the white model think its the L2 model paid 80 euros for it in a sports shop in wicklow. then i got a silva L3 model on ebay paid 25 sterling new from a hikers shop type. for get the name, this was cheaper and i think is better as the batteries last longer. they are very comfortable to wear too.

Fair play samo, sounds like you've worked your way through one or two headlamps over the years

I just think it kinda defeats the purpose of the posters question to answer with... something is the BEST, without giving a bit of info/detail as to why you think so...thats all. Also, for anybody reading this thread who might be considering buying a new headlamp, if would be good for them to know the pro's and con's of various models based on peoples experiences.

As stevecrow posted earlier, one of the main advantages of the L1 is that it can also use batteries other than the ones on the headset....to somebody who wouldnt usually (or regularly forgets to) carry spare AA/AAA batteries around, then thats a massive positive to owning that brand/model of headtorch, however to me who would always have spare AA/AAA batteries in the car/tacklebox, it really doesnt make a difference.

At the end of the day, most of us anglers buy our gear on some sort of recommendation, be it by brand recognition/loyalty, a fellow angler, or by the word of a guy in the tackleshop. Just nice to be subjective with our opinions thats all.

Didnt reasile my comments would cause such a stir

Rodger...

one of my mates is an asstronort

Did you mean asstro...snorter :!: :!:, judging by the references to white and bright

Eric your only bitchy 'cos I wont take you out fishing tomorrow......theres dust gathering on your anglers digest photo on the mantlepiece...go give it a polish

I use a princetontec, brilliant lamp, for the price difference I'd get it.
Ebay seller Sebastian11 sends them over from the US, with the exchange rates at the time I got it delivered for about 55 euros if I remember correctly, it'd be a bit more expensive at the moment. Apparently the newer ones now are 130 lumens.

Here's a few reviews on lamps, they don't cover the Silva unfortunately, the Princeton scores top marks.

i have been looking for a new light for a while i am using a tiga at the moment but would like an led but would also like to have at least 130+ lumens have come across these http://www.ayuplights.co.uk/content/view/31/99/
the 6hr battery gives 320 lumens, you get headstrap to mount lamp, battery, charger, car charger and lead incase you want to mount the battery on a belt instead of the headstrap price £129.00 any thoughts as my head has been done in looking through candlepower forums

I had the tiga and it was drivin me mental. Was goin to buy a silva but john at waterford angling recommended the spelio. Mighty job. Very happy with it. I also take along the energiser as a spare and at times the other one is a bit bright on the beach.

But I've said it in a post the other day - headlamps are the one thing that  They are my pet hate of tackle.
