"Plastic zips" I take it you mean the sliders....well you can buy them easy enough but the reason they are not used very much is because unlike alloy sliders they wear very quickly and stop holding the zip teeth locked.

paul, im thinking not only the sliders but the teeth as well made of plastic, like on jackets, waders
and everything thats going to get the salt water on it?

Hi Lads,

Just ordering up a couple of new runners to repair mine... got this info that might be helpful of a site.

Here are a few Don'ts
Don't leave salt water residue on your zip
Don't use WD40 on as a zip lubricant
Don't use mineral grease as a zip lubricant
Don't force the runner if it is corroded
Don't store your bag in a damp atmosphere

Here a a few todo's
Use fresh water to clean your zip
Use silicon spray as a zip lubricant
Use silicon grease as a zip lubricant
Use Vaseline as a zip lubricant
If you store your bag over the winter, move the zip occasionally

ok i use my golds back pack (large one)twice a week i carry way too much gear like most anglers  i,ve had my backpack 4 years and the only problem i,ve had is the top section is sagging from the weight of my gear and on occasion the zip pulls open in the middle,i,ve started supporting the top section with either the bait bag or my rigwinder box and this keeps things in shape ,given the amount of use my bag gets and the fact i,ve never done a thing to the zips ie washed oiled or even wiped em i,d have to say its a good buy,due to the fact that i,m getting on i think i,ll be buying a breakaway box with the backrest next as i need something to sit on ,if someone designed a backpack like the golds one with a backrest and you could sit on it they would sell like hotcakes

also dont buy one out of argos

i did and it lasted 2 weeks before the strap broke, took it back and got another one and the strap broke again within 3 trips

size and compartment wise it was perfect just a shame the quality was utter shite!! but you get what you pay for
