I used large circle hooks the other day to land a spurdog and conger both lip hooked. The skipper on the boat also uses them for blues and porbeagle sharks which he said are always lip hooked too as stevecrow74 and mga can verify The circle hooks he has are the same ones used on long lines by commercial tuna boats.

i used to use rapela circle but found grauvell sickle hooks and think they the dogs even better and come in all sizes.

Used circle hooks for the first time last night, size 1 sakuma's on 2 hook flapper. Got a 7 inch flounder initially followed by three 8 inch and a 12 inch coalfish, all fish lip hooked and returned ok.

I will have to investigate more.

started useing circle hooks just a few months ago just to try them out, and they are a very good hook. got mine from east coast angling, 20 hooks per pack for under two quid. going to stock up with a load of 4'0s for the rays.
