Fixed Spool Reel?

Looking to buy a new fixed spool reel for shore fishing/beachcasting in the hundred euro region. Currently using a Penn Powerstix Pro 13 ft beachcaster paired with a cheap Okuma reel. Any advice would be most welcome.

I find Shimano to be great for fixed spool . The Alivio hold's about 200yards of 15 pound line so should suit or the Titanos for a few quid more . I'm using a penn gx7000 and its still working perfect three years on . Stear clear of the surfmaster range as they have been getting terrible reviews

Have a look at the Shimano Navi 7000/8000 too. That's what i'm using with my Powerstix pro.
It was recommended on this site by a few people so I went for it.

i used penn powerstix pro as well paired with penn pursuit 5000 that works perfect on beach casting..you can try the penn pursuit 6000 or 7000 for more line capacity but the 5000 suit better on our powerstix pro..

I have the 15' 9" powerstixs teamed up with a Shimano 7000 NaviXSB which I find great, very smooth reel, and front drag very easy to set, have an old Dam reel on my 13' and after years of service the gears are getting worn but I'll be replacing it with the Shimano again I find setting the drag and the smooth running of the reel just a pleasure to use. I picked my Shimano up for around €110

I have a diawa wind cast and couldn't fault them

Used it yesterday for the first time and it is very impressive. Very smooth cast and retrieve. Was fishing for bass yesterday at Dunany but caught nothing. So fish stocks are safe for the time being Creep!!!

It was between the windcastS series and biomaster but in the end the fact that the bio was a Shimano did it for me. However if I decide to upgrade my reel on my other rod I might buy the Diawa.

Dave Jolly has a Daiwa Windcast here on the forum for sale, it's a S5000 with 2 spools + box, used twice, rrp 120eu he's selling for 75eu - if you are quick

Agreed. The biomaster is a fantastic reel. Must say it was money well spent.

Shimino all the way I have two Fx 6000 Hyperloop loaded with 20 pound mono and not a bother with either of them even when they got a soaking after floating into the surf..... after a good wash they are right as rain...

Well as you know the PowerStix reel seat is snug! to the butt...fished it with 4 different reels now all on 30-40lb braid...

Shamino Cardiff 401 -small 'multi'
Mitchel 7000 - Med Spinner type

Have noticed that the smaller reels perform better for distance casting 100+yds up to 30yds extra...don't know if this is to do with the smaller reels a more inline with the eyes and closer to the butt!...not advising ye to get small reel but consider one step down from big pit type... best luck ...great rod...

ps... if yer going for a Navi make sure tis latest version (lot of old 2009 versions still selling a 2011 prices!)
