I had one (standard LT 14) for a while but found the tip a bit long at 8 ft and felt the overall action of the rod a bit soft for my liking. I know a lot of lads rate this rod highly so it may well suit your style. Have you had a cast of the lt 14 yet?

Is the LT 14 EVO suited for clean beaches, or is it more a mixed-rough ground rod?

Are you looking at the Lt for fishing or casting?

The "Evo" is a tournement rod and unless you are a really big caster its not really practical for everyday fishing.

I have a pair of LT14`s and they are what I use for the majority of my fishing and I cant fault them.

Mine have been used for everything from scratching flats to heavy rock work and they will be on the way to South Africa in a couple of week to tame some of those big sharks out there :)

Make no mistake the standard LT is a very powerful rod so dont let the casters put you off :D

Its perfect for long range dogs and ray on the west coast (if you can handle it) 8)

Over all the standard LT is a nice rod with a good tip for fishing, after owning the two i deff prefere the Evo version, IMO it is a better all rounder, but it is not designed to be a TOURNAMENT rod, its a fishing rod that can cast a long way

i agree with jp, lt14 over the evo version..can put a bait a long way, decent tip but plenty of power too. As i said yesterday a perfect west coast rod really, sound like its what your looking for

I have to confess to only having had one chuck with one, and it wasn't for me. A couple of mates us them and love them to bits though. Clearly the best thing to do is try and get hold of one and see how you get on with it.

With regards to distance it all depends on who's casting the rod. I've seen a Primo Match (albeit the early 14' version) chuck over 230m. I don't think anybody would suggest they're a tournament rod yet most people into casting would love that kind of distance.

Did you have a look at the m4 highflex match, sounds like a beaut lots of power with a match tip.Another option would be afaw tournment match.

Had an LT14 for awhile. Would rate it highly. Tip lenght can put you off but get over it and you have a great rod. Plenty of power for clean to mixed with a little bit of rough. Power is delivered very smoothly throughout the cast. Don't rush the cast and it will land your bait along way off. I got rid of mine in favour of a TTSS...... yeah.....enuf said.
