im looking to buy a good pair of coasters for my tip tornado supermatch because my reel keeps slipping and sliding around when the butt gets wet. it makes it impossable to use the rod when its wet. I put a new grip on the rod last year but i put it over the grip already on it as i didnt want to damage the rod, i know it now has a larger diameter but the coasters i got when buying the grip are slightly too big, could anyone reccomend a good pair of coasters to buy and a good way to accuratly measure the butt? Thanks in advance

probably the best coasters I have are the ones that came with the Anyfish Anywhere rods. My best advice is to get a talon reel seat. It suits all diameters. Best way to measure the diameter of a rod is to take the butt cap off and use a ruler to measure the cross section of the rods. other than that unless you have a set of calibers.

you should get a abu griplock reel seat see topic
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18145&hilit=abu+griplock i have the tip tornado match and i bought a 26mm abu grip lock for it and it was too big,if you are out near clifden you can try it on the rod to see if it fits or not,its the 25mm for the tip tornado match not sure if the supermatch is the same thickness

I found the abu griplock seat to be crap, get a quality reel seat fixed where suits you on the rod and youll never use the griplock or coasters again.

It has to be glued on a job best left to the pros, ShaneH from the site did mine but most tackle shops should be able to do it for you.

Breakaway coasters are excellent too but I would recommend a reel seat instead.
Bring your Butt to a tackle shop and you'll be sorted!

i dont know i hate getting sand jammed in the seat, they can be a nightmare, plus you get a better grip on the rod with coasters?

Cant beat these, wont budge and sand is no problem and dont rust.
