ny1 got any advice on getting a good casting multiplyer.

starting out, 7ht, abu mag, both clean ground reels
good all round penn 525 mag
rough ground slosh or slimiler
if your learning start with the 7ht, there is a casting club near you(

if you could get along to one of the casting days the ulster casting club holds it would let you see different reel and there use.imho i would go for the abu 6500 mag elite two sets of brakes

mag and centrafugel ,near impossible to blow up .set the level of line about 2/3 mil below edge of spool set mags at full and have two brake blocks in double the control of the 7 ht ,but that said the 7 ht is a good reel aswell.rougher ground diawa sl20 /30 or a penn 525 mag its mainly down to your own preference on all reels you might like one reel over another but both could do the same job.!!!good luck with what ever you choose.

I like the 6500 premium mag best myself - have 3 of em. Would expect to get it for around €160. Waiting for the new Irish online shore tackle website to go online next week before I buy my next bit of kit though

Dan a penn 525 will last ya years and you can abuse it.abu's are for people that prefer little dinky toy collections to fishing

Agree with m.b3. Being someone who doesn't take the best care of his multipliers the penns will take a lot more abuse than any abu or daiwa. I have penn 525s, 6500 mags and a 7ht mag.

best advice i can give you is to try and test a few out and see what suits you best, no point in spending the money if your not gonna get on well with her
dead right!
don't get me wrong the penn's are indestructible
ehem... cough cough
