Puca-shannon estuary sat 15 july

Decided to spend the day targeting conger, tope and bass.
Ran across the estuary to pick up some mackerel for bait at littor strand, and there they were , gone!
Had to trek out to loop head and back, and as a result just missed low water at moneypoint, for the conger
With a bit of tide pushing, and using Rob McLeans advice on this mark, a flapper was launched at the pier structure. Before I got the rod into the rod holder, the rod was nearly ripped out of my hand and I muscled into a seriously large conger. After a short fight on a 20lb class rod with 30lb braid, I was unceremoniously broken. 30lb braid and it wasnt enough.
Retackiling up then produced a number of conger to 16lbs, but no more big uns'
No bass though, strange!
With the tide then really starting to push , we motored back to Littor strand and anchored our normal tope mark. Blazing sunshine seemed to put the tope off . No runs in 3 hours.
A last gasp decision to repostion in 90 feet of water saw us get three fish, with the largest a superb male fish of 42lbs
Some huss to 8lbs and a few pouting rounded up a challenging day
Great day out
