Me and LSD had a run out with Andy on Clarion. Tope were the main attraction but a few other species made a quick cameo appearance until multiple simultaneous tope runs made things too hectic and we had to pull the other lines in.

Fortunately there were shoals of mackerel about, albeit a tad on the small size but at least bait wasn't a problem.

There are some cracking fish about, we lost a few that either snipped through wire trace like it was thread or just circled below the boat until they managed to chuck the hook. A winch wouldn't have moved some of them.....

We also had a good few dropped runs or baits that came back mangled by tope that we didn't see until we checked the baits.

I think we had me with one being boated, LSD trying to get a monster off the bottom and Andy's rod losing 200yds of line as another one tore off for Letterkenny, all at the same time.......mad!

Mind you, we had the mother of all dubby bags out....we had a slick that would have dwarfed that left by the Torrey Canyon.

We managed to boat 3 in the end, all between 35 1/2 and 39lb, all male specimens, all returned alive and well. A full report, with pics, available here
