LSAC Boat Competition - Rush, Co. Dublin - 06.09.2020

Where: Launching from Rush, Co. Dublin
Who: Myself, my uncle Ken and his friend Dave.
Duration: 11:00-17:00
High Water: 14:30
Equipment: 7.5ft Shakespeare Ugly Stik 2 30/50lb
Bait/Rig: Assortment of feathers and then just simple running ledger rigs at anchor with mackerel.
Conditions: Flat as a pancake and sunny spells.
My Result: 27 Mackerel, 1 Pollock, 5 Dogfish, 1 Coalfish
Ken's Result: 9 Mackerel, 1 Whiting, 6 Dogfish
Dave's Result: 34 Mackerel, 2 Pollock, 2 Coalfish, 1 Dogfish, 1 Gurnard, 1 Whiting.
Another competition for us with LSAC, only a few left in the season now, we started off by hitting a rocky area for mackerel for bait, hitting a few coalfish and pollock while we were there. After an hour or so of that we headed to a sandy bottom clean ground spot just off a rocky headland to anchor in the hopes of some ray or bull huss, and we were hounded with the dogfish for hours while Dave managed to catch a tiny gurnard on feathers
With an hour left in the competition we headed back to our favorite mackerel bashing spot to finish the day!
