headed out after work with the father for a few hours to pick up a few macks for bait over the long weekend! Trip got off to a rocky start as we were launching at low tide and the tide was well off the end of the slip. So to actually get out the wellies had to come off and the pants got rolled up as we had to take the trailer off the car and use manpower to push the boat into water

Eventually we got out and picked up a few macks, coalfish and pollock

I decided to freeline a mack strip in mid water, cast out the bait without thinking and caught a sea gul  he was released unharmed

While fishing for macks with feathers had another oddity! close to the surface i got a bite which i thought was a mack until it started breaking the surface, I got it into the boat to find I had caught my 1st garfish! is it common to catch a garfish on feathers???

good stuff I'll try for them more often! would the likes of a toby be worth trying?
