Cork Shark Fishing - 9 July

Postby JimC » Fri Jul 10, 2015 11:28 am

We took a run for shark yesterday. Myself, Paul and SeanA101080. We ran in Paul's Warrior 175 "Right catch 2".
Great day! Started with lures on the ling rocks we had plenty fish but the size could have been better.

After that session we headed further offshore for a shark drift.
We had plenty blues. At one stage we were sight fishing sharks at the sie of the boat as they came up the trail. Great craic.

Great day out Jim, I was out myself the same day but it was a lot lumpier where I was (Clonakilty) and it took almost 2 hours to get a mere 5 mackerel! What weights would you put the pictured fish at?

The wind did come up on the day for us too I think it always looks calmer in pics. I like a decent drift anyway and it's behind you coming home in any case.
Macks are a big concern. So far this year getting enough for a shark session is a problem. We had a dubby block so we were able to fish In any case.
We didn't weigh or measure any of those sharks but I'd guesstimate between 50-60lbs
