Sharks

Headed out over the weekend with a buddy from work, Paul, on his warrior 175 (Fine Catch 2) in the hope of catching our first ever blue. Being 2 complete novices in this area of angling we had a bit of research to do on tactics and tackle, so onto the phone and internet we went The night before we set off i sent a P.M to well known and experienced member of this forum to point us in the direction, and without hesitation he parted with some great info (cheers again J)
So with rubby dubby, tackle, location and bait all sorted off we headed. We traveled between 18 and 20 miles out and it was as calm as i've ever seen out on a boat. Put the bag of rubby over the side and the first bait in the water. As we were getting the second bait ready and mixing up a bit more rubby, that beautiful sound of line being strippep from the reel was heard. 3 mins the bait was in, what a start. Our first blue was on and she felt heavy (even though i had nothing to gauge it off ). The fight lasted about 25 mins and 4 or 5 good runs before we brought her on board

We never measured it but it was between 6 and 7 foot long and was fairly plump. Could'nt even throw a guess at the weight but definately heavier than a specimen bass
We had 3 more after that all about the same size on the smaller side

They all swam off strong after being unhooked.
So all in all it was a great day to kick off our shark tally......

girth inches x girth inches x fork length inches divided by 800 gives weight in pounds

fork length excludes the tail

from the pic looks around 25 or 30lbs
