Report:not been reporting a whole lot latley, over the last week and a half or so i have been out 3 times, i had my daughter leonie and her boyfriend kyle and i also had harry out. had been chasing a couple of species i need. day one i was after ray did not have to wait more than 10 minutes and i had the first thornback in the boat a 6 lb fish great start we ended up with 4 landed and a couple dropped the best fish of the day fell to myself a nice female coming in at over 14lbs

very happy with our lot for day 1, following day i had leonie and kyle out for the first time this year, this was more of a relaxed day they are happy to jig for macks and bottom fish for pollack and wrasse and whatever comes along (easily pleased) :D not like some. leonie gave kyle a lesson on how to catch a variety of species macks cod

whiting pollack coalies

and ballans the poor lad only managed pollack and ballans
kyle ballan.jpg
himself but he was happy to be out. last day i had harry on board one of my old marks on the horizion was the chozen spot, with the slack tides making off shore fishing that bit easier i had tope in my sights macks were very hard to get with only 3 been caught by harry luckily i had a few from the previous day, first tope aboard was a baby for himself that taught it was a pup hound at least there was a sign of one to go on, we were kept active with a few hounds and dogs dabs and gurnards coming aboard then i had a very good take on one of my rods turned out to be a cracker of a hound estimated over 10 lb problem was he managed to launch himself out of the landing net i was not a happy bunny i blamed the net man again  made a bit of a move and didnt have to wait long until a tope took my bait and stripped a lot of line from my reel nearly back at the boat and he was off again eventually i had him at the side and hauled him in myself i didnt want to have to make my crew walk home if there was another mistake made, this fish came in at 45lb and 160cm long
specimen tope 160cm 45lb.JPG
another specimen sized fish under my belt that wont be claimed, 2 in nearly as many weeks aint bad 8)

Excellent fishing John 1, that's a fine thornie in particular though your tope was obviously great sport.

Congrats on the ray and the tope, very fine fish. I'm also impressed by how clean you keep your boat, considering how well used it is....

i dont think you would have the same opinion if you had a look up close, it's in a bad need of a bit of tlc have not properly cleaned or polished it in about 4 years, but i make sure i hose her down everytime i come back home with her, plenty of people only too happy go out and fish from it but you never hear a word from them when its mentioned a deep clean is needed
