Kilmore, 9th Sept

Mon Sep 09, 2013 9:20 pm

People: Me, Willy, Tom & Graham

Duration: 08.30-16.00

Tide: rising & falling

Weather: Brilliant

Bait: Lures

Results: Bass

Report: Up at 5am again to head down to Wexford for a bass trip. 3 other bleary eyed lads arrived soon after wards and we were in Kilmore in 2 hours.

The plan was 4 hours bass fishing and then a few hours general boat fishing.

After a quick steam out lures were trolled over some rough ground. First bass went to Tom, a fish of about 4 lb.

Second bass went to Graham …………..his first bass and he was thrilled. This was followed soon afterwards by his second bass.
What surprised me was that the larger Sliver was the bait of choice of these fish.

Next it was my turn to catch 2 bass in quick succession. After that the tide began to turn and the sea totally calmed. It was time to try something different.

So we went casting lures over a series of rocks. I landed a nice fish of about 4.5lb but other that that there was little activity.

It was a successful day and we look forward to trying this area again.

Thanks to our skipper John Deveraux for all of his help.
