Tuna galore aboard kinsalecharters silverdawn

My uncle used to work the Albacore off San Diego. They would normally despacth the fish with a sharp Pik / knife to the brain. Aparently this helps keep the post mortum shaking and then bruising to a minimun.

Great result boys love to get a few some time, but they are so far off here it takes a long steam to get to them and it is expensive, plus most skippers are non too willing to go there. Well done.

No. Albacore is still fair game.

Beautiful albies, guys, congrats! we haven't seen many of them locally here in southern california - by locally I include south of the Mexican border up to 100 miles.

The quickest way to dispatch tuna and albies is to spike the brain; just jam your pliers down the middle of the skull between the eyes and they instantly stop beating their tails.

The upside doing so is the flesh don't get beat up. The down side, it's difficult to bleed them completely. What I do is hold them upright by the tail, rip the gills to bleed them, then spike them. It's quite an arm workout doing that!
