W Waterford 3rd July

Postby Stan » Thu Jul 04, 2013 9:33 am

People:Me & Cortaz

Duration:4 hours

Tide:2 hours going & 2 hours rising

Weather:lovely for half the time and then cold . Strong SW winds

Bait:Lures & Jellies

Results: 3 bass each

Report: Decided to try for my first bass of the year. Can't believe that it is July and that I have no bass for all of the other months :!: :!:
Last year I had bass for every month of the year.

Headed out to try on banks and between banks.

First up was a bass to Cortaz's jelly lead head. :D :D Fish took lure on the drop near the boat and then went mental. I followed this with 2 bass on an X-rap. :D :D Then he had another on the jelly.

For the last hour of the drop there were no takes. Then we got one each as the tide turned. :D :D :D The terns an gannets were diving all over the place.

Cortaz missed 3 more and I missed one.

It suddenly got very cold and we decided to head for home. Overall a good night and hopefully a good start to a very late season.

All bass were around the 3lb mark.

Nice going Stan and Art.Reckon we are at least a month behind, lots of baitfish around and birds working hard, good signs 8)
Everyone should believe in something; I believe I’ll go fishing.

Thanks Declan, all fish are behind. Talking to Gavin Tivey this morning and all fishing very patchy in the boats. Mackerel scarce enough . Likewise with pollock and cod not around at all. Hopefully with the good weather we will catch loads :D :D :D :D
