People: tom, myself and Sean Lavelle (skipper)

Duration: 30 minutes (wasn't supposed to be a fishing trip)

Tide: around l/w

Weather: fairly calm, overcast

Bait: nil

Rigs: feathers

Results: One decent pollack (about 5 lbs), lots of smaller ones and coalfish, couple of launce

Report: This wasn't supposed to be a fishing trip! But since we were out in a calm spot between Belmullet and the Iniskea islands, we decided to drift over the sand / seaweed beds and try our luck. First drop (on a tuna rod!) produced a nice pollack in the 5/6 lb (2/3 kilo) range.... a nd after that single and double shots of pollack and coalfish came to black feathers. The silver feathers on the other rod produced a double shot of launce from right off the sea bed - apparently its alive with them at the moment. Mackerel very scarce and have been for weeks even off the boats.

Nice interlude and picked up some useful information on future shore marks in the area!
