Report:so we headed out from spiddel at 9. it was a lovely day and we started looking of macs but they didn't play ball only a few showed up.. so off we went for deeper water and the session started. the first mark was a cracker . and my first drop produced my pb coal fish 10lb+. this coalie hit the line like it was the last bait in the sea and it was going to have it. but on the attack a 3lb coalie hit the next hook up so the fun started with the big fella going down and strippin line and the small fella going in all directions. both were landed and the big coalie was given to the skipper. we fished that drift for a while but conditions mad it a slow drift which suited ling and this was my next catch. about 3ish lb. the lad next to me got a great knock and it was the first spur dog of 2013. fine fat female kevin said. lovely fish to see on board. we moved a few times in the day and it was time to try gilling, so with the good advice got from here off I went . but no luck I just couldn hook up a few small hits but I need to put in more practice. so I decided to try for the tank of the sea, rass time, and in the one drift I picked off 4 so smiles all round. we drifted on to some mixed ground and I picked up my first boat flat , a dab and the smile on my face got bigger. as the day was closing in we hit the sand for some rays but the dogs were in there in force. so a big thanks to kevin and the crew, and thanks to the lads here on the fourm for the help.
