Lovely fish Sandra!
On the subject of worms, looked into it last year when I found a live tape-worm in a salmon. Did a lot of reading as I didn't want to waste one of the few salmon I catch. As long as you cook it well, there's no threat to your health.

The jury's out; its being sent to Dublin. It might be a hybrid.

Photo doesn't really provide much of a clue, as you can't see the fins. If it's a tub it's a decent fish but if it's a red it really is a monster. Looks like a tub to me but really hope it is a red.

Given the names mentioned above who are unsure what species it is, I think its fair to assume that it doesnt have the tell tale blue wings.

Looks like a tub to me too...sorry Sandra!
Check the lateral line running from head to tail.
If it is a raised seam it's a tub if it is "ribbed" it's a red! From your photo the fish looks to have a seam to me!
Cracking fish though!Well done!

No blue tinge on the wings Paddy, they were completely black, that's what threw us. It looks like a tub, though.

We get reds up here in Plague proportions but none anywhere near that size!
