Well done to the lads on o2b@c :D

Paddy Power would have given great odds on the smallest boat in the fleet swooping in and taking the prize in its very 1st outing

Well what a week!
Will do a proper report in due course.
The event went well despite the weather doing it's best to scupper things. We still had unrestricted fishing on two days. We on team SKUA were happy with our 5th place finish. Well done to all competitors but a special well done to the lads on O2B@C. We won't exactly class them as first timers but it was their first time fishing the event in this boat and as a team. That makes their 25 species total an even better result too!
The detailed results are on line at: http://www.skuaangling.net/results09.htm

Cork Small Boats Festival 2011
Another year and another great victory!

Congrats to O2B@C from Colwyn Bay who won the hunt with a superb total of 25 species. We had a mixed bag of weather for the week.

Day1 there was little wind but a residual swell from a blow the day before. Most boats head offshore with many fishing around the Ling Rocks and Smiths. Best boat on the day was Screeming Reels with 17 Species.
Day2 was a damn sight windier so we were restricted to inside Roche’s Point. This did not bother most of the competitors as they were now starting on the harbour species. The day finished with SR leading with 22, Shockwaves 20 and Highlander on 19.

Day3 was another in-harbour day. It was quite misty and some species were fishing tougher than others. There were nice plaice landed and some hard-caught bass. The leaders struggled to add to their totals: The top three at day’s end were: Screeming Reels: 24 , Predator II: 22, O2B@C: 22

Day 4 dawn a lovely morning with a deteriorating forecast. Fishing was unrestricted until 1300hrs. Conditions were misty with poor visibility. There were some fine catches from boat chasing “most on the day” prizes and the top boats worked to consolidate their positions. In the end the top five boats were: O2B@C: 25 , Screeming Reels: 24, Highlander: 24, Wimps: 24, Skua: 23.

All told a great event, testing at times but great fishing, better company and superb craic!
