People:myself and the girls from work

Duration:17:45-20:45

Tide:ebbing

Weather:fine,cool

Bait:mackeral,squid

Rigs:basic ledgers

Results:plenty of dogs and huss.

Report:brought the girls for a quick evening trip with Reg on the Lady Helen. The weather hed cleared up nicely after an awful day of rain.We anchored up just west of bertra beach,as we had a great night of bullhuss here earlier in the season. We started catching dogs and huss straight away, though weed was a problem as there was a serious run of tide coming through the gut of bertraw.a good night was had by all though, with all of the "ladies" getting fish.Going after blue shark with reg on tuesday, will try to post results.

Hi Skateboy

My gawd, someone who can catch something off Bertra Strand! :D
I'm impressed - how far off the "cut" were you?
Is it castable from the shore?

Thanks

we came straight through the middle of the gut, then dropped anchor,it would be well reachable with a cast.just head for the gut,and when you get there, face clare island and heave it out, there should be fish within casting distance.like i said we had a lot of big (8-12lbs) huss there earlier in the season.ive been thinking about trying it from the shore myself, although my casting would need to improve!!
