People:myself ,neil ,party boy and michael

Duration:2 days

Tide:

Weather:breezy

Bait:fresh mackerel

Rigs:single hook ledger rigs

Results:ling to 22lb ,conger >30lb,pollack 3lb>pouting 2 1/2lb,cod>10lb

Report:
First day saw us leaving port wondering if we were going to be able to get out to the off-shore wrecks with a steady NE.force 3 Blowing after stopping to collect some fresh bait Nick (skipper) decided it would be ok ,so of we headed for a wreck 30 odd miles away .
On the first drift over the wreck we'd picked up a couple of cod best of 10lb falling to michael and a few ling around 12lb ,another few drifts produced more ling and cod so nick decided to put the anchor down .proceded to get a few more ling the best of 18lb falling to ian with a good few congers up to 30lb (ian again)
sundays forecast was alot better so it was a early start to head back out to the wrecks this time further west ,michae l and myself both got broken by something decent while reeling in mackerel (shark we suspect) but we headed out to wreck only to find a trawler sitting over the wreck ,after a conversation over the radio nick informed us that the @****** had drift nets out over 6 other wrecks in the area so we had to change plans and head about another 10 miles ,this would prob explain the lack of pollack on the wrecks . we didn't do so well on this wreck but still managed some good ling with neil getting the best of 22lb and michael keeping us entertained when he hooked two congers at once when he was fishing a 3 hook rig !
All in all not a bad couple of days ,a big thank you to Nick Dent on Rooster for all the effort he put in to get us some nice fish (12hr trips are pretty rare up here) anyone interested can contact him on http://www.wreckfish.com

It's depressing the number of wrecks that are totaly unfishable due to gill nets. I wonder how many of the wrecks are classified as war graves and since gill netting tends to rip the wrecks to bits, is there any way to get gill netting on them banned - as desecration of a grave which is, to wit, a criminal offence in this country?
