Met up with Petekd and Cassie from the forum on a real peach of a day in Port Na Blagh. We tried the clean for a while first but it was slow going with only the odd red gurnard showing. Moved onto reefs at Tory Island and enjoyed some cracking light gear pollock fishing before resuming our hunt on the clean where this time we did a bit better with some good tub gurnards, reds, dabs and spotted rays showing. We also hit a big shoal of coalies averaging 3 to 4lb whilst drifting this clean. Even managed to get myself a specimen red gurnard at 2lb 3oz, well pleased.
Mackerel were everywhere and at times it was struggle to get to the bottom without them attacking your trace. All in all it was a good days fishing, good crack too and the skipper Pat Robinson was excellent very friendly and helpful. Petekd also proved to be a dab hand at catching guillemots - was whipping them out steady with baited hokkais!
