Red Bay 1 / 09 / 05.

People:Myself, Davy B., Andy, Paul and Kenny.

Duration:0800hrs - 1700hrs.

Tide:High water just after 10.

Weather:Nice, light offshore wind.

Bait:Mackeral.

Rigs:All sorts.

Results:Mackeral, Cod, Whiting, Gurnard, Doggies, Huss, Pollock, coalfish and Scad.


Report:First time boat fishing for a few years, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Although we weren't to sure of the marks,everybody caught fish. Got a lot of Joeys for pike bait, and some more just big enough for perch bait!!!!

Hi Bill,

Where were you catching the Huss? And what tactics were you using?

Drifting the reefs on the right-hand side of Cushendun bay past the sewage outfall. No big Huss but some nice pollock to 5lb. Huss on Mackeral belly strip and Pollock on same and jelly worms. Done a couple of drifts parallell to the beach in 15 ft of crystal clear water and watched the flatties come up the the mackeral strip and grab the tip and run. Didn't hook any though, but good fun watching them.
