St Brendan, Portaferry, 14.08.05

Duration: 10am - 4pm

Tide: Wet.

Weather: Gorgeous

Bait: Squid, Mackeral

Rigs: Feathers, Flowing Traces, Spoons.

Results: about 20 keepable Codling and a Ling, Millions of Mackeral, Pollack and Coalies.


Report: Gorgeous day, Loads of Fish, Coming in 2's and 3's most of the time, Close contenders for the biggest fish award, But in the End my Dad Cleared up with his Ling.

GIVE US THE DETAILS!!!! i take it that you exited the lough and turned north. how fast does the St Brendan manage against the tide how big was the ling?

8) Exit Lough, Turn North, About a Mile and a Half offshore, Pretty Clean ground, or you can go further on up and drift down the Outside of the First Main Buoy you come to, think it marks the start of the Butter Platty Reef System, The Ling and Cod Pictures are on my Website, Hit the WWW button then go to Pictures, They're at the top.

saw the pictures and now i don't feel so bad about my catches inside the lough!

i've had pollack to about 7lb coalies to about 2lb and codling to about 2lb. there was a good pollack taken from lee's wreck this week (not by me). other species include whiting and gurnard.

Its all Cod out there.... along with the Odd Ling, Pollack and Coaly, We had them ranging from 2 - 4lb, Nothing big, But sure its fun.
