rinnashark boat winter league 2011

well lads our first leg of our winter league got under way last sun the 6th feb.the weather was s**t and there was fresh water in the river after heavey rain the few days before.we met with angus at the marina on the quay in waterford city very handy.(will be looking at booking him for a few more evening trips this and next year when he has boat up at the marina and the cod are running).
with the wind blowing a gale we could only go to one spot for a bit of shelter witch was a deep hole just below the city.i was after getting the tide wrong when booking (but have it fixed for 2nd leg) that with the fresh water didnt help and the fishing was slow from the start .but in the end when the tide slowed and started to turn a few fish started to come in even tho the cod didnt show there was some nice eels and a flounder been caught .the day was won by
1st gerry walsh
2nd kevin ryan
3rd myself
4th wally flynn
and the pool for longest fish was won by gerry.
the 2nd leg is hoping to get futher down the estuary towards woodstown where there should be good fishing and a good mix of fish with dab ,flounder and the odd plaice ,cod whiten ,coalie, dogs expected.and we have the tide right for this one .
have a few pics will post
