the lads on this trip are new to boat fishing, havent found the sea legs yet,
by lunch time the boat was looking like a small hospital.

this lure put on the boat by shimano cost 30 euors
but does a good imitation of the swimming crabs

thank you, that pollack was actually one of three I brought up at the same time,
it was the best one but the other two were not far behind, no wonder the drag
on my reel is knackered :-) They seem to be in a feeding frenzy when the tide
is running and it gets a bit quieter as the flow slackens.

That jig looks a bit like the Hart Wasabi - I think many of the major manufacturers are making similar. They are gaining popularity. First time I've seen one used here...... nice one!

Great fish. Were you close in or far out?

hugo, those fish were caught 6 mile S/W of loop head, to be honest they
were taking most lures though it is fun to experiment. i seen something
similar on veals, dirt cheap for 11 quid :-)

Williamson Yabai Jigs
Designed by Japanese commercial fisherman, this style of fishing is called “Kabura Jigging”. Excellent in cold water when jigging extremely slow for bottom fish such as cod.
• Versatile head design has two line tie options allowing for vertical drop or a fluttering drop action.
• Interchangeable skirts, tails and hook assemblies makes it easy to replace parts or create custom colour combinations. (replacement parts not yet available)
