Rosscarbery, Cork

Not much of a report but just to let you what was goin on there last Monday.
Last minute went down the pier with frozen prawns, no joy.

The place was like an aquarium. The water was black with sand eel, spun for a while and foul hooked 2 big enough sand eel, Baited them up on flapper and cast out to the rocks on the right.

Over the pier in the kelp again 1000's of sand eel and every so often strap conger would mull lazily about in between them, saw about 10.

Then the Heart breakers, a shoal of about 7 or 8 large mullet floating lazily about the pier. No interest in prawn or chopped up limpet. I had a sandwich in the car, took the two slices of buttered bread and started to feed the mullet, they ate a few pieces, tried to eat my float a couple of times and then just pretended to be interested in my hook. I nearly cried.

Got one decent pollock on the sand eel, would've been tasty but id a long drive home ahead of me so back he went.

My first time in West Cork in over 14 years and wow! what a beautiful place, the water in Rosscarbery was the clearest I have ever seen! The drive from Dublin was fine, so Ill have to go back fully geared up. Watch out for the few maniacs about Bantry of a Saturday night ;) , but really wow what a place.
