Report:
My mate had just got a warrior and as he's from Greystones, myself and my son Shane headed over there so both boats could head out together.
The weather was lovely considering the winds over the weekend, and with just a light breeze meant very calm waters.
We were looking to hit mackerel and fished with feathers, pulling in small cod/poor cod, mackerel and even a couple of gurnards on feathers. Shane caught the first fish on my boat and he was delighted. I moved the boat around quite a bit to keep Shane interested and happy but he got restless after a couple of hours so we stuck a few cooked mussels (that my mate had given me as we were not planing to bait fish) onto his feathers and stuck his rod in the rodholder. I was feathering away when behind me I could hear the noise of his rod bouncing around. It was flexing like md and as quickly as I could get him to grab mine, I went to grab hi from the holder. As I got to it the rod holder snapped and I just about caught it as the rod fell between the two engines. As I pulled the rod back, it was definitely a fish and not a snag but the line was caught on the auxillary and snap.
Who knows what it was. Maybe it was a snag, but Shane went home with tales of sharks
Great fun, cant wait to get out again and bait fish there.
