Report:headed out on what i can only discribe as the perfect sea.not a cloud in the sky or a ripple on the horizon
went around to were myself and davebouy had been productive last week. tried a few drifts blanked. so started to use the fishfinder stopping over gullys showing fish. this produced 2 whiting.went up as far as the baily hit 1 mack.baited up the second rod and drifted slowly back down. blank .after a couple of hours of this i decided to try irelands eye heading across stopped over other fish on the finder .blanked. the back of the ireland had about 15 boats all fishing. including a charter full of punters .slotted in to a drift another mackeral 3 hrs after i got my first. ishould have mentioned while i was at the baily a survey ship was going up and down and every time it past the hull of my boat kept clicking like a sparking sound. it then followed me over to the back of the island.same again all the boats made this noise as it past them.
i had agreat day on my own. doing what i love fishing. in a comfort that you seldom get out on the sea.
im just wondering if this survey vessel and its equipment had any thing to do with the lack of fish.i caught nothing on the ground bait and 5 single mackeral for the whole day and all the other boats i spoke to had also blanked .also none of the seals were in the water. there normally hounding the boats so apart from 5 macks and 2 small whiting i got 7 hours of total tranquillity its a hard life but some one has to have it
