We drifted the inner harbour on a short session on friday. Not much happening but it was a fairly relaxed session that was more like sun bathing than fishing. I caught a nice pollack on a flowing trace with mack and my dad had one on baited feathers. We headed out to the pub that night for a folk festival which ran into the wee hours so the heads were a bit iffy in the morning but i decided to head out for a quick session before the girlfriend woke up. We drifted both sides of the harbour and along the deep channel in the middle. I had 4 whiting and a poor cod on the 3 down rig and we moved over to a reef to try for a few pollack. I tried for a few mack which only resulted in one launce, new species anyway so i'm not one to complain. I had a dab on a flowing trace with a 4/0 and large lump of mack, hungry little fellas they are. My dad was still trying to catch a few mack which resulted in 4 pollack hitting the feathers at once as we came over the peak of the reef. He thought it was something big and was a bit gutted when he saw the 4 small fish coming to the surface. Things seem to be picking up a bit around but it's still not full on with the summer species. Loads of dolphins in the harbour. I was tryn to get a video of them and one jumped right next to the boat. I was standin on the bench and it gave me such a fright i nearly went for a swim. Amazing sight though.
