Thu Jun 03, 2010 2:31 pm

People:14 anglers

Duration:10am - 6pm

Tide:Dropping and the early flood

Weather:Settled with showers

Bait:All sorts

Rigs:Various

Results:Mackeral, Pollack, Coalfish, Ling, Haddock, Whiting, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Poor Cod, Cuckoo Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Megrim, and a few Octupus

Report: As part of the Fisheries Awareness Week the CFB chartered two of Cork Harbour Angling Hub's charter boats last Sunday and took a mixed bag of novices and "experts" out. With two boats the decision was made to fish two different marks; Deora De went to the Smiths and Osprey II went to the Ling Rocks. Fishing was superb. JP Molloy reckoned it was some of the best fishing he's had from a boat. For a full report have a look here http://www.corkharbouranglinghub.blogspot.com . Here's a few pics including a pic of a specimen grey gurnard caught on the day:

I must say it was a great day out. I think I had 12/13 species for the day.

I was on board with Mohawk on the Deora de. I dont think there was any point through the day when we were not catching fish.

I even caught my first megrim which decide to hop off as I was bringing it on board and go for a little run along the gunnel before going back over the side :(

As some of ye may know I am a shore angler and not overly familiar with this boat angling caper but 1 thing is for sure, after the day I had on sunday I will be trying a bit more boat angling and booking Jim on the Deora de a couple of times before the summer is out.
