People:Me and the brother
Duration:11.30- 8.30
Tide:Low to high
Weather:Outstanding-Light Northerly breezes in bright sunshine
Bait:mackerel
Rigs:Hokkais, jellies,
Results:Species caught included mackerel, whiting, codling, pollack and tope
Report:Set offf for loop head in glorious sunshine a little later than I would have liked.(The brothers hangover was responsible)
Drifting off the head with feathers produced the usual suspects.Mackerel ,whiting, micro codling and pollack. And what pollack! The two largest a shade over 9 pounds with the average 5-6 pounds
Then it was back up the estuary to anchor up for tope. In a frenetic 90 minute period just before high water,we boated 5 tope and lost two. All male fish in the mid twenties with one just over 30 pounds in weight.
I was thrilled as it was the first tope in the new boat, a christening of sorts.
Left at 8.30 as the missus would have divorced me.Exhausted and delighted
Fantastic day out
