Report:

Me an two of the lads headed out to see if we could get a few plaice. Weather was good so the plan was to hit the ling rocks for some sport off the Pollock an then come in to try for the flats. The Pollock didnt disappoint, we had some excellent sport on sidewinders and shads. Biggest Pollock and fish of the day went to Johnny with a lovely fish of about 9lbs. When the tide hit low the fishing died and didnt really pick back up again so we headed in to try for flats, we had a few drifts for whitting before we got in but only managed a couple of stragglers. On went the flowing traces and we began to try to locate the flats. A few drifts didnt pay off but eventually we found them. Lovely slow drifts gave us perfect flattie fishing conditions and with the water being so clear they were on the feed. We had some handy dabs off our marks but the kudos went to Johnny who managed to hook the only two plaice of the day, two lovely marked fish. When we got sick of the flats we came into the harbour to give the colding some stick. That lost its appeal very quicky lol, too easy altogether! They were coming in three at a time which has been the norm really for the last few months. Good day out, fishing seems to be getting better an better every week. Hope the rain stays off cos the water clarity is definitely helping the fishing. Large pods of Dolphins all over the outer harbour, most likey feeding on all the herring that are there. A few of the codling spat out herring as well so they have go no shortage of food at the moment! Couple of pics of the better fish below.

Great fishin mike. When are we gonna head out on the warriors. I'll take a day off work ta get out if that suits ya. I know we were gonna leave it off till may but i'm gettin an itchy trigger finger. I'll have to dust off the shimano alivio. I reckon it would be well able for a few of those pollack. Only one doggie in the whole day Where the f**k are they all gone.

Ill book the boat tomorrow, send me on the date. As far as your alivio goes, if you dont mind it too much if the reel gets a hammering then by all means . If you want to use the reel for anything afterwards then id go for the slosh. They were ripping line off of my saltist so i cant see the drag on the alivio lasting more than 2 or 3 fish!! But dont let me talk you out of it, it might be fun to watch them trash the reel hahaha

Cheers Rory - Paul was delighted an disgusted all at the same time cos he wasnt the one that caught them I got nothing but time on my hands man, whenever you want to head out let me know and ill book the boat.

We are a smiley bunch arent we Good craic though, Paul is a bit of a legend when it comes to finding the fish so all credit to him for the smiles
