People: me and petekd
Duration: 15:00-19:30
Tide: HW 15.30
Weather: sunny, light cold northerly breeze
Bait: some frozen mack but we didn't use much
Rigs: mainly sabbikkis and the like
Results: a large number of cod who though they were mackerel with a few herring, coalies, whiting and a couple of pollack
Report: After some boat maintenence which scuppered Saturday's trip and delayed yesterdays, we finally got into the water. Drifted around the channel picking up scores of codling, 2/3 per drop, nothing of much size with the occasional coalie and whiting for good measure. Real mackerel mentality to them.
I spent half the trip trying to catch a herring for my species list. Typically, we encountered them on our second drift, Pete landing a good few, me getting bites, but no hookups meaning I had to wait until the final drift to get one.
Anyway, more maintenance required as despite our impeller change the water flow wasn't great.

Yep, cheers for the trip out mate. Never thought I would hear myself say "I'm bored catching cod, what'll we do next...." but sure there you go. Worse than bloody mackerel they were

. Nice afternoon to blow the cobwebs off the gear for the first sortie of 2010.

Well done lads. Not a bad start to be complaining about too many cod.
