Report

Awoke to find a light dusting of snow in Millisle which I thought was quite localised. Boy was I wrong! Davy picked me up @ 630am and we were off... First 'incident' we came across was a car that had left the road between Donaghadee and the Cotton. We stopped and made sure the driver was alright, then made our way, on ungritted roads to Holywood to pick up Fred. The snow was falling heavily here with flakes easily 4-5cm in width!!! So after getting Fred we made our way through Belfast and up to Carrick, the snow situation between Carrickfergus and Ballylumford Harbour was downright crazy with easily 10cm of snow having fallen, we helped push people people out of ditches and had real problems towing the mistress up and down the snow covered hills... Finally made it to the slip for around 9am!

So, finally to the fishing..

We were out and anchored in 300+ft of water with a dubby slick being supplied by a bag on the anchor chain. The tide started off quite slack and it took a while for the scent to really get going.... Finally the dogs started... Best of which was about 3lb. As the tide picked up we started getting a lot of Huss and conger eels through the dogs... I had my First and PB Huss today, first being 7lb3oz, and best being 7lb10oz... Also had my first eel of the year at 12lb5oz! Fair to say, 3 species up for the year! Many thanks to Davy and also to Fred.

Other notable catches were Davys Huss double shot, and his 10lb Huss, and freds double up on Congers..

Brilliant day, can't wait for the next one!

Not a bad result given the conditions. Wouldn't fancy drawing a boat too far in the conditions. You guys must be gardcore!

Well done on the PB.

Have to say it was scary stuff seeing cars stranded everywhere and us trying to pass them with 2 ton of boat and trailer behind us  .

Nice wee session considering the conditions, I thought Neil t and I were mad enough headin out on saturday, having to use a fish crate and buckets to clear the slip with saltwater before we could even try to get the boat into the water. Never mind having to drive up ungritted roads with a couple of inches of snow.
That spot is certainly producing a few fish for the mistress.
